Apple’s third generation of iPad, which has largely got mixed reviews since its launch in March, has finally reached India today. Besides India, Apple has launched iPad3 in countries including Colombia, Estonia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa and Thailand. .
To rewind: In September 2011, Apple’s Chief Executive Tim Cook had introduced the third generation of iPad sporting a 9.7-inch 'retina display' with 2047 x 1536 pixels. It is powered with A5X, a processor with two CPU cores and four GPU cores. In addition, Apple has adapted 4G on its iPad.
Comparing the new iPad3 with its predecessor iPad2, it adds about a millimeter of thickness and a little weight over the iPad 2 which is likely attributable to the new screen and a bigger battery needed to power it.
The new iPad Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 4G models will be available in black or white color in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options in India.
The 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB Wi-Fi only models will be priced at Rs 30,500, Rs 36,500 and Rs 42,500 respectively. For Wi-Fi with 4G models, Indians have to pay Rs 38,900, Rs 44,900 and Rs 50,900 for 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models respectively.
Well! With such high price, it is difficult to say whether Indian users will welcome iPad 3 or hesitate to buy it.
