In a surprising move, Finnish handset maker Nokia has unveiled a string of management rejigs. According to a latest update, Nokia has announced changes in senior management following the resignation of three officials including Chief Marketing Officer Jerri DeVard.
Other management rejigs include the appointment of Chris Weber as EVP of sales and marketing. Earlier, he was serving Nokia as senior VP Markets for Americas at Nokia. In addition, Tuula Rytila, senior Vice President of portfolio and business management has been appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer.
Also, Nokia Corporation EVP of Mobile Phones, Mary McDowell and EVP of Markets, Niklas Savander have also stepped down from their posts. Both Mary McDowell and Niklas Savander were also the board members for company’s subsidiary and digital map company NAVTEQ.
Sources familiar with the matter informed our team that DeVard, McDowell and Savander will serve as senior advisors to Nokia through the transition of their roles.
Besides these management changes, Nokia has also announced that it will cut up to 10,000 jobs globally by the end of 2013 and shut down some facilities.
According to an official statement, the latest leadership team of Nokia will be in place from July 1, 2012.
