In a bid to sell off its non-core assets, struggling cellphone maker Nokia has reportedly agreed to sell its Qt software business to Finnish IT services firm Digia Oyj. Following the acquisition, Digia becomes responsible for all Qt's activities formerly carried out by Nokia. These activities include product development, as well as the commercial and open source licensing and service business.

The company has not disclosed the exact value of the deal. 

Qt is a cross-platform application framework which is widely used for developing application software with a graphical user interface (GUI) and for non-GUI programs such as command-line tools and consoles for servers. The software is used by some 450,000 developers for making applications for nearly 70 industries.

According to latest update, a maximum of 125 Qt people from Nokia will transfer to Digia. 

Following the acquisition, Digia is planning to quickly enable Qt on Android, iOS and Windows 8 platforms.
