NVIDIA has announced the launch of three graphic cards, 270, 290 and a dual card code named as “China Syndrome.” Earlier, “China Syndrome” was codenamed as “Smoking Sepuku.”

Recently, reports suggested that NVIDIA cards were not doing well and the leader even revised the price tags of its cards.  For instance, the GTX280, went from $649 at launch to $499 a few weeks later.

As for cards 270 and 290, they are 55nm GT200s.

For power consumptions, 270 is at 164W and the 290 is at 212W. Also, the new cards are pegged as fast performers compared to 260s and 280s.
 
If the recent reports and market buzz is to be believed, it seems that NVIDIA is selling old things in new packets and no amendments are made. Taking these issues into account, it seems that the 270, 290 and GX2 are just attempts to grab at a halo. Just increasing the clock speeds will not satisfy the consumers.

Accounting the lowered sales for cards with 24 distributors in kitty, baffled NVIDIA has even axed its five partners recently.
