Oracle acquires Involver to strengthen its social media tools
Added On:7/11/2012 11:40:00 AM

Oracle, the world's third largest enterprise software provider has reportedly acquired a social marketing firm Involver. If reports are to be believed, the latest acquisition is the third acquisition of any social marketing firm by bigger players in recent times.

Founded in 2007, Involver is a San Francisco-based marketing firm that provides tools for developers to create advertising campaigns on social media networks such as Facebook.

Involver’s technology is likely to extend Oracle’s social platform further. It will facilitate customers for building engaging applications and social experiences across social networks and the Open Graph.

According to a spokesperson from Involver, the Involver with Oracle combination is expected to create the most advanced and comprehensive cloud-based social solution, across marketing, sales and service touch points.

As a matter of concern, it is found, Oracle is aggressively fleshing out its social media capabilities in recent months. In the first week of May, Oracle signed a deal with Vitrue, a social media engagement service. In the following month, Oracle acquired Collective Intellect, a social media analytics company.

Market watchers added, there were two other big purchases in the category in recent times; one is Salesforce’s BuddyMedia acquisition for $689 million in June and another is Microsoft’s $1.2 billion purchase of Yammer in July.
