Despite the troubles that RIM is facing in the global markets, the company is likely top industry growth this year in India. According to a latest update, RIM has further expanded its product portfolio in India with high price BlackBerry Porsche P-9981 smartphone.
It is reportedly said that the new Porsche P-9981 is RIM’s slickest smartphone ever.
It is power-packed with a 1.2 GHz processor. Other intuitive features include liquid graphics technology, HD video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, advanced sensors, and built-in support for NFC (near field communications) apart from 8 GB of on-board memory, expandable to up to 40 GB with a microSD card.
The ultra-premium BlackBerry Porsche P'9981 is priced at a cool Rs 1.39 lakh in India.
Sunil Dutt, Managing Director at RIM India has shared his views at the time of launch that RIM’s latest smartphone is power, style and aspiration. The company will not be selling it through the traditional channels. However, RIM will have selected outlets like Luxe watch and accessories showroom located on the high streets, later on.
He further added, the domestic smartphone market is growing at over 40 percent this year, after clipping at 87 percent in 2011.
Presently, BlackBerry enjoys 15 percent of the smartphone market share in India, up from 13 percent the previous year. This figure places RIM at the third slot after Nokia and Samsung.
