Already on shaky foothold, Research In Motion has lost another senior executive. According to a latest update, BlackBerry maker Research In Motion’s London-based head of global sales Patrick Spence is leaving the company. His tenure in the company was 14 years.
Trusted sources informed, Patrick Spence is a RIM’s veteran which is widely considered as a rising star of the company. Spence was promoted to the global sales role in July after serving as Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining RIM, Spence spent most of his career at Sony Corp, Ericsson, and their Sony Ericsson mobile phone joint venture.
It is important to note that Patrick Spence has played a significant role in BlackBerry's global expansion into markets. In addition, London-based Spence has helped the launch of a range of BlackBerry 7 devices last year. Moreover, he had also worked to decentralize RIM's sales planning so it fit better with regional sensibilities.
According to a spokeswoman by RIM, 15 June would be the last day of Spence with the company.
