RIM one of the leading manufacturers of smartphones globally, is losing its marketing head Keith Pardy, sources informed. He will leave RIM in another six months, he cited personal reasons for his departure, sources added.

The PlayBook- RIM’s tablet is about to see the light of the day and in such a scenario it will be interesting to see how RIM will go about its marketing strategy with another head of the department. But since Keith will help the company with transition RIM may have some relief for the immediate period after the PlayBook launch, sources stated.

According to sources, Keith resigned at a crucial time which is week before PlayBook’s launch and after a year of Apple iPad’s launch which is touted as the biggest rival against RIM. Not only iPad but RIM will also have to compete with Android based devices.

RIM reportedly anyways has been losing sheen over the last few months, with its argument with the Indian government over encryption and other problems it is facing in other countries.

Experts are of the opinion that Keith’s departure will not have an immediate effect on PlayBook’s fate.
