Over the last decades, Samsung has emerged as a determined brand of tech industry with its remarkable products like Galaxy range. According to a latest update, the Korean giant is selling nearly 21,000 smartphone every hour.
Samsung Electronics Co is eyeing the new Galaxy S3 smartphone (launched at the end of last month) as a potential rival to Apple's iPhone.
Latest stats revealed, Samsung sold over 44 million smartphones in January-March quarter. It is worth noticing, the 44 million mark is equal to nearly 21,000 every hour, giving Samsung 30.6 percent market share. Further, Samsung is likely to top ‘10 million’ benchmark by the end of next month, making smartphone market, company’s as the South Korean group's fastest selling smartphone. On the other hand, Samsung’s arch rival, Apple sold nearly 35 million iPhones, taking its market share to over 24 percent.
With the overwhelming response for its Galaxy S3, Samsung (which is presently available in 147 countries) is expecting that its handset division would be higher in the current second quarter than in January-March.
As a matter of concern, it is found, Samsung introduced its first Galaxy smartphone in 2010, three years after Apple introduced iPhone.
According to JK Shin, head of Samsung's Mobile Division, the overall market condition was challenging due to euro zone issues and tight supply of components. However, it is expected that Q2 results would be better than the Q1 results for Samsung.
