Console Gaming, no doubt is reaching considerable heights with people developing passion for gaming. Acknowledging this, Sony has acquired Gaikai to use the California-based firm's streaming technology to its devices.
A person familier with the matter informed our team, the latest deal will close at $380 million (£242 million). Sony will reportedly take over Gaikai's data centres and the infrastructure behind its service.
Gaikai will facilitate Sony users to play titles written for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 without having to own one of the consoles.
It is worth noticing, Gaikai is one of best online gaming systems that facilitates users to play games by streaming the action to a PC. With Gaikai, users can enjoy speedier access to games as it streamline only a small part of the game which they are currently playing, rather than downloading an entire game.
Besides Sony, Samsung has made an announcement at the E3 trade show in early June to sign a deal with Gaikai to use it in its upcoming smart TV range.
Market watchers added, it is not clear what impact the acquisition will have on Samsung's plans to offer gaming via its smart TVs through Gaikai.
