According to a latest update, struggling RIM has lost another head. The head of Research In Motion Ltd's Australian and New Zealand operations Ray Gillenwater has stepped down from his post.
To the reader’s surprise, he stepped down from his post just months after being promoted to the job, becoming the latest senior executive to depart since Thorsten Heins took over as the BlackBerry maker's CEO. Gillenwater was promoted to the post of Managing Director of RIM in Australia in April when a long-serving country head Adele Beachley stepped down in February. Prior to this, he served RIM via various less senior posts in different locations like Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.
It is reportedly said that Ray Gillenwater has left RIM to pursue other interests.
According to a spokesperson from RIM has stated, Matthew Ball will fill up Gillenwater’s shoes. Matthew had joined RIM a year ago to manage its Australian marketing efforts.
Seems, RIM is quietly cleaning out layers of management under the guidance of Heins, who himself replaced longtime co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie back in January.
As a matter of concern, it is found, RIM’s shares have shrunk nearly 70 percent this year after an increasing competition from Apple and Google’s Android powered devices.
