In a bid to further expand its cloud offerings, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has reportedly acquired Pune-based Computational Research Laboratories (CRL). It is reportedly said that the latest deal will finalize in Rs.188 crore ($34 million) and it is going to be an all-cash deal.
It is beleived, the latest acquisition will enable the software giant TCS to expand its suite of solutions and offer integrated High Performance Computing (HPC) application and cloud services to its large base of customers. It will ultimately help TCS to strengthen its focus on creating cloud based industry platforms.
It is worth noticing, these days, HPC applications are finding increasing relevance and use among large enterprises as they look to solve complex business problems like reducing their time-to-market. These benefits are driving adoption of HPC-based applications for modeling, simulations, visualization and big data analysis across businesses.
Presently, TCS' has a global base of customers in sectors including automotive, aerospace and energy.
According to a senior official from TCS, Pune based firm CRL, which had developed Tata group’s supercomputer Eka, has about 80 employees who will be inducted into TCS after the acquisition.
