The Redmond giant Microsoft has recently demonstrated the detailed preview of its next major release of Windows OS code-named Windows 8. It is reportedly said that Microsoft is all set to launch Windows 8 officially by 2012 end.
Market watchers believe, Microsoft's push into the tablet industry is expected to see limited success as dominating players like Apple and Google are already there.
If reports are to be believed, Apple is likely to control 61 percent of the market and Google's Android operating system is expected to gain 32 percent market share. As far as Windows 8 powered tablets are concerned, they are expected to get mere 4 percent market share in 2012.
However, the study indicates that Microsoft's market share will rise gradually, helped by enterprise purchases. It is expected to grab 11 percent market share by 2016 as it lacks consumer appeal.
According to latest chunk of information, Windows 8 powered tablet PCs from Acer and Lenovo will arrive in third quarter of 2012. It is also expected that Acer and Lenovo tablets will feature Intel's Clover Trail platform inside. However, Intel is yet to announce specific details on the availability of its Clover Trail platform. Even, Dell is once again geared up to foray tablet market with Microsoft’s Windows 8 powered mobile device.
