The long awaited and world’s cheapest tablet has finally witnessed dawn in Indian Market by Hon.  Minister for Human Resources, Communications & IT, Shri Kapil Sibal. Dubbed as Aakash, the tablet is said to proffer digital access to million students across the country.

The indigenously manufactured ultra low cost access device shall be sold to students at the subsidized price of $35 in a bid to make Asian countries heel up with the peers such as China.

The Canadian wireless web access products and services company, Datawind shall be delivering the device to Indian Government at a price of Rs. 2200, as cited by the sources. The tablet will be projected to enhance the quality of learning in India primarily in schools.

Further, the price for this feature rich tablet is quoted as Rs 3,000 coming coupled with a cellular modem and SIM. Spotted in two versions, the tablet shall be powered by Android platform, and will support WiFi connectivity for internet access and cloud storage. In addition it will have 256 MB of RAM, a 32 GB expandable memory slot and two USB ports.

The budget tablet is being considered as a strong tower to raise the bars of Indians, connected to digital access as they lag behind China in terms of connectivity.

As the Amazon's Kindle Fire shook up the global tablet market, it has to be seen, how firm Aakash stands with other tablets of tech biggies. Hopefully its lower price will manage to grab good sales in Indian market atleast.
