In a surprising move, the social network game developer Zynga and Facebook are parting their ways. Now, gamers would be able to play company's popular titles on Zynga.com instead of relying on social networking giant Facebook Inc.
Sources informed five of Zynga's top games will be now on the new Zynga.com, including "CastleVille," "CityVille" and "Words with Friends”.
Zynga’s Chief Operating Officer John Schappert stated in a recent interview, with the latest move, avid gamers can now find challenger outside Facebook.
It is worth noticing that Zynga which is a San Francisco-based company have long been associated with Facebook as well as apps for mobile devices such as Apple Inc.'s iPhone.
Analysts believe, the latest move is online game company's boldest move yet to create a presence outside of Facebook which has currently 845 million active users. Zynga makes 93 percent of its revenues from Facebook. Latest stats revealed that Zynga accounted for 12 percent of Facebook's $3.7 billion in revenue last year.
According to Manuel Bronstein, General Manager of Zynga.com, the new website is not intended to migrate users away from Facebook. It will just help users to keep their Facebook profiles separate from their gaming habits.
