Nokia’s Executive Vice President has decided to leave the company to work for a new venture investment fund, Vision+. Tero Ojanpera, who had served the company for 21 years, will step down to a managing partner at Vision+.
Ojanpera’s association with Vision+ will help Finnish mobile maker develop new applications for its phones. The Finnish maker after touching breathtaking heights in mobile industry is now facing a serious challenge from Apple’s iconic iPhone and Android based high-end smartphones. It has also lost ground in the cheaper end of the market to Asian brands like ZTE.
Nokia has entered into a strategic alliance with Microsoft to turnaround is smartphones fortune. By next year, one can expect Windows powered Nokia handsets in the stores.
Nokia is planning to invest in Vision+ to support the venture capital fund's plans to help develop new applications for Nokia phones.
