Edimax Technologies has announced that it is adopting the Regional Distributor (RD) model to further enhance its impressive growth story in India. Edimax invites Regional Distributors across India for distribution of its quality products and to cater to the increased demand across various customer segments for its networking as well as newly launched IP network cameras.
Edimax India has been on impressive growth trajectory and posted a mammoth 65% year-on-year growth for 2011. It also witnessed buoyant numbers, exceeding their own optimistic estimates for Q1 2012, driven largely due to increased customer adoption and resultant channel movement. It closed Q1 2012 with over 100% growth in volumes and value, and 55% growth in channel partners carrying their products.
With a modest start of its India operations in 2008, Edimax has received good visibility in the market because of its innovative and high performance products. To further increase its presence, Edimax intends to get more resellers and dealers on board and hence the adoption of the RD model. Along with its vast range of networking products for which it is well known, Edimax is strongly looking for opportunities in the IP Security & Surveillance segment. Edimax believes that this model will work for them to address the opportunities coming in from every region in India.
Till Q1 2012, North region was the largest contributor to the Edimax business in terms of revenue and RD base, providing more than 40% share of its total business in India. It is followed by West at 35% and South at 25% shares of the pie. East region is yet to be explored, but holds promise for additional numbers.
To start off, Edimax has appointed Advance Infotech, to distribute its range of IP cameras in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Edimax is looking for similar tie-ups in other regions as well to provide closer focus in each region. RD should have good knowledge of CCTV or IT distribution and also a good after sales service set-up in terms of solutions and guiding the SI & resellers.
Speaking about the expansion plans Mr Eric Yang, Country Manager - India at EdimaxTechnologies stated that Business in India is growing by leaps and bounds, this year we broke all previous highs. We are planning to take that to next level and be amongst the top five in India, in our market segments. Appointing regional distributors across India will help us in addressing local demand with closer focus in each geography, and it will ensure we remain on top of the situation in our quest of providing innovative products and solutions. We are looking to appointment at least 25 RD in this quarter itself.
