Reliance Jio’s World Record: 16 Million Subscribers in 1 month


Recently Reliance Jio claimed that they have created a world record by touching a 16 Million subscriber mark in its very first month of operations. This growth achieved by Jio is actually faster that growth achieved by any telecom operator or startup around the globe. The services by JIo were commercially launched on 5th September.

In the RIL’s 42nd general meeting, Mr. Mukesh Ambani mentioned that this telecom venture aims to acquire about 100 million customers in the shortest time possible and create a world record by doing so.

In 3,100 cities and towns across India Jio has introduced paperless Aadhar-based Jio SIM activation. This allows a user to complete the whole SIM activation process in no time. As per the management this services will expanded to more places in coming weeks.

Some 1.5 million users have opted for 4G network by Jio in the first test phase of the network. Jio is competing directly with leading players like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone by proving users with free data services for four months and after that variety of packages depending on data usage. Jio has also promised to offer free calling and no roaming charges which was another attractive offer which added towards achieving such a growth.

When compared to other players JIO has achieved a count 16 million subscribers in a sort span of one month. As per industry experts it is also expected that by end of this month Jio may have 35 million 4G users, which is greater than Airtel’s userbase.
