Gliddon also said the organization has tied up with Bharat Financial Inclusion (recent SKS Microfinance) and Muthoot MFI for dispensing, gathering and digitization of credits. “The digital disbursement and collection through M-Pesa has enabled speedy micro-loan disbursement by MFIs (microfinance institutions) and weeklymonthly collection of micro-EMI payments by borrowers. Digitization has also eliminated cash carrying and cashtransit risk for the MFIs.”

Vodafone propelled its MFI pilot in June 2014. From that point forward, it has extended operations to eight states.
