In 2017 Information security expenditure will touch $90 billion

As per Gartner worldwide spending on data security is expected to reach $90 billion in 2017 – an increase of 7.6% in comparison to 2016 – to top $113 billion by 2020,

As indicated by Gartner, spending on enhancing detection and response capabilities is relied upon to be a key need for security purchasers through 2020.

“The shift to detection and response approaches spans people, process and technology elements and will drive a majority of security market growth over the next five years,” said Sid Deshpande, principal research analyst at Gartner.

The need to better recognize and react to security episodes has likewise made new security product lines, for example, , endpoint detection and response (EDR), deception, software-defined segmentation, cloud access security brokers (CASBs) and user and entity behaviour analytics (UEBA).

These new sections are making net new spending, but at the same time are removing spend from existing portions, for example, network security ,security information and event management (SIEM) and enterprise protection platform (EPP).

The rising number of point solutions in the security market that cater to detection and response is creating sprawl and manageability issues for chief information security officers (CISOs) and also security managers, are driving spending for management platforms integrated with adjacent platforms, even preventive security controls, for example, firewalls, application security and interruption aversion frameworks (IPSs), are being changed to give more insight into security operations, investigation and reporting.
