Facebook is now bringing the ‘Stories’ feature to its main application. Users can now share stories with their Facebook friends and also see what they have been up to for the past 24 hours.

The same feature will also allow to check out pictures, GIFs and short videos from friends, right at the top of the Facebook app. It is like swapping text and photo updates with visual communication to give a more customized experience.

With this update to Facebook main application now Facebook has stories for all its main apps — Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. Instagram’s stories have been a huge success, It will be great to see how Facebook’s user base embraces the story format.
Facebook has also added new camera effects that let users overlay special effects on photos and videos. They can then share this content to Facebook Stories or to the News Feed, and their individual friends through the new Facebook Direct private visual messages.
Facebook has also introduced a new feature called ‘Direct’ which is basically a brand new version of the Facebook inbox .This allows users to engage into direct messaging action with each other. Though Facebook has messaging offering over its platform, however, these direct messages easily remind one of Snapchat’s direct messaging service. This allows you to share photos and videos with each other in direct response to the stories you are sharing with each other.
