One of the major Indian telecom operator Idea Cellular recently announced its venture into digital services with ‘Digital Idea’ and launch of three Idea apps — Movie Club ,Music Lounge, and Game Spark.
These applications aim to act as a one-stop entertainment destination for Idea subscribers to provide popular content.
“We aim to become an integrated digital services and solutions provider from being simply a network operator. Our digital services aim to include citizens hitherto untouched by digitisation with our reach in 400,000 towns and villages in India,” Himanshu Kapania, managing director, Idea Cellular, said.
He also added that idea has plans to work aggressively on VoIP and IP based calling, entertainment and cloud and storage solutions in 2017. Apart from this also they have major focus on Idea Money to include Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank.
Idea’s 4G services are at this point of time are available across 11 circles and this is expected to expand to nine more circles this year. This is also Idea’s response to tough competition from Reliance Jio
“We are transforming from telecom Network Company to open IT architecture approach. We are also in the process of launching e-commerce site comparable to large-sized companies,” Idea Cellular chief executive Himanshu Kapania said.
The telco is all geared up to enter into the phase of digital information.
