Consumer durables organization Videocon Industries Ltd is wanting to twofold its income from the versatile handset business in the following nine months from Rs.1,200 crore in 2015-16. Simultaneously, the organization plans to dispatch 35 new items by December.
Akshay Dhoot, head of technology and innovation at Videocon mentioned that they have already launched 10 new products for the festive season and will be launching more in this span of nine months aiming to double the revenue as well as sales volume.
He also that the demand for smartphones is coming from the top 20-30 cities only therefore they also have a low-priced range of feature phones as well catering to smaller towns .These feature phone offer a very basic access to the internet.
The Consumer durables player is hoping to sell close to 200,000 units of mobile handsets leveraging the festive season. As far as contribution from both lines of products i.e. feature phone and smartphone have an equal contribution in the revenue.
Videocon has reserved Rs.1,000 crore for opening new assembling offices and additionally overhauling the current offices over a time of three years and will contribute around 4% of its yearly income in promoting and publicizing.
